Mumbles Crusaders Tour Scotland 2014 

Below is an outline of the tour itinerary that has been put together. We all feel that this tour is amazing value and will enable the maximum number of players to have an experience they will remember.

We are training Friday at 11.00am in Underhill and will hang around for any questions about the tour after training has finished at approx 12.15pm

Brief details: 

Dates: Friday 14th March to Sunday 16th March 

Depart by coach: 1pm Mumbles RFC on Friday 14th March 

Travel by Coach – approximately 6 hrs 

Arrive at Dunfermline 10pm approx. – include stop off and activity on journey.   

Accommodation Friday: Stay hotel Friday night. 

Saturday: Play against Dollar Academy Saturday morning 

Afternoon activity with hosts 

Go- karting/ paintballing/Bowling/ Lazer Quest. 

Saturday evening/ night – all boys hosted with pupils from Dollar Academy.

Sunday morning – all meet at Dollar Academy

Travel to Edinburgh to play Stewart Melville College. 

Sunday afternoon – Mike Morgan’s cultural tour of Edinburgh.   

Depart Edinburgh 4pm. 

Return Mumbles – 12 midnight (approx. with stops)   

Total Cost: £120. (food not included)

Deposit required Sunday 5th January

£60 per person to confirm booking (this is non-refundable)

The players will have the use of the changing rooms at St.Helen's Sunday.
All the boys will need to come with a set of clothes to change into after the game ready for the buffet...

It's CHRIIISSTTMAAAAASSS! (nearly)

Christmas is almost here and to celebrate in some kind of style The Crusaders will be playing a special Christmas fixture against our friends and rivals at Swansea Uplands.
On a bumper day of festive rugby at St. Helen's and Swansea Rugby Club, the Mumbles u12s will play New Dock at 10.30 with The Crusaders playing Uplands at 11.20
Food and festivities will then be available in the Swansea club for all involved.

We are paying for the pitch and changing room hire at St. Helen's out of funds, and are asking a small contribution towards the buffet of £5 per person from Mumbles and £5 per player from the opposition.
It should be a great day for the boys to be together and also for parents to chat about the joys of Christmas after the game.

If we can all get there by 10.30 that will give time to warm up and also take in a bit of u12s rugby

Fundraising

Can whoever has the 'Buy a Day' diary please bring it along on Sunday. We need a big push on the sales as we are getting near to the Dec 22nd  draw date.
On the 22nd we will be playing a game at St. Helen's and it would be great if we could have a raffle or auction after the game to help raise funds. If anyone has any ideas on raffle/auction prizes they may be able to get hold of/donate that would be fantastic.

COACH ONLY TO HOLLAND 2014

After looking into the pricing for flying to Holland in 2014 the decision has been made to make the journey by COACH ONLY.
There are people who don't want to travel by coach, just as there are people who cannot afford the extra money to fly. To keep the party together the decision has been made to go by coach.

There will be a Teamer sent out to establish numbers so we can make an informed decision on what happens with the tour.

Please reply YES if you wish to tour and NO if you don't.

Training / Tour meeting

Hope everyone had a good bank holiday and has enjoyed the fantastic summer!
Back to the serious business of training this week with The Crusaders stepping up the training for the season.

5.30pm at Underhill this Friday, with a tour meeting to discuss everything at the club at 7.00pm
Next week training goes back to Monday at 5.30pm for the rest of the season.

Hopefully we can all make training this week and the meeting after.
The deposit of £40pp is going to need to be paid as a matter of urgency after the meeting to secure any accommodation for the Easter holidays. More details about this on the night...

Cwmtawe 7s

Well done to all the boys that made the trip up to Pontardawe on the weekend.
With everyone still in sunshine beach mode, the results may not have gone our way, but I'm sure all will agree that the boys enjoyed the day together.

Cwmtawe Tournament info for Saturday

For the Cwmtawe 7s on Saturday we are up against;
Morriston, Pontardawe and Tata Steel
As soon as I can get the PDF uploaded I will post on here. There is a schedule of games for an u13 tournament between us.

The games are 10 a side 5 forwards and 5 backs. We are very thin on numbers, so anyone who can make it along who hasnt already accepted on Teamer would be a bonus!!

Our first game KICKS OFF on PITCH 3 against Pontardawe at 12.00pm
We must have reported at least 10 minutes before KO

The meet time on Teamer says 10.00am which may be a good idea to get parking. Although realistically we dont need to meet until 11.15am which will give time to warm up before the first game.

It looks as if the tournament will go on until 4.30pm

It should be a great experience for the boys with some good rugby to watch throughout the day.

Boys/dads/mums Training as usual this Monday at 5.30pm in the park. It's been fantastic fun for everyone every week as some great turn outs. See you there.

We are still waiting on a confirmed date from the club to get together one evening. Will post as soon as they let us know.

Cwmtawe 7s on Saturday 3rd August: we are looking pretty thin on numbers so if you can make it to this prestigious event please accept the teamer request.
More details on the day will be posted in the week.

We have been lucky enough to be invited to play along with Pontardawe and Neath at the Cwmtawe 7s 2013.

The tournament is on Saturday 3rd August. Estimated meeting time 10.00 but keep an eye on the blog as this may change.

As its the beginning of the summer holidays, we know a number of the squad will be off on their travels. Hopefully this little bit of advanced notice will enable us to get a good group of boys to go up for the day.

It's a great experience for the boys and a testament to their game and relationships outside the swansea matrix to be invited.

Crusaders Holland Tour Easter 2014 

Thursday 17th April: Leave Mumbles
Match 1: opposition near Bath; Thursday evening game.

Night 1: Stay overnight at hotel near Bath.

Friday morning travel via Channel Tunnel to  Centre Parcs in Holland
Friday 18th April – free day for activities at Centre Parcs.

Saturday 19th April – Match 2 v Local opposition

Sunday 20th – free day for activities at Centre Parcs

Monday 21st – Leave Holland on return to Wales

Cost : c£350. Per person - based on 22 players 22 adults

The accommodation is self-catering – based on 6 sharing.

The following activities are included in the cost:
Anytime swimming, anytime skiing/snowboarding at indoor ski centre.

We plan to fund raise for tour kit etc for the boys We could also put money raised towards other activities – maybe a meal out for the boys on last night of tour  We will be organising an event at the club after training on a Monday night in the next few weeks when we can get together and discuss the above.

There will be the opportunity for all the boys to get together for the evening, with training tops for everyone kindly supplied by Andy Hopkins. Details coming shortly..

Gordano

Well done to all the boys who made the trip to Gordano on the weekend.
The fifteen boys put in a superb effort against a rotating 25 big players from the Gordano team. The Crusaders ambition to run the ball, and skill levels shown by each of the fifteen boys on the field were duly complemented by the Gordano coaches. The Gordano team were physically very strong and absolutely no push-overs as we had to work hard for every point of the game.
Keep an eye on the blog, and we can hopefully get everyone together to celebrate the season and look forward to a summer of eternal sunshine before we start our jorney into under 14s rugby.

Finally, from everyone involved, a big thank you to all the parents who put in so much time and effort to get the boys to games and training. Especially the ones who reply promptly to Teamer, as it makes the organisation for Sunday so much easier.

BBQ at gordano

Gordano are kindly putting some food for us (BBQ weather permitting) after the game on Sunday. It might be worth taking some snacks for the journey but that should be all that you need.

GORDANO TOUR - SUNDAY 28th APRIL - Dept. 8.30am

The Crusaders will end another successful season on and off the pitch with a whirlwind tour of Gordano RFC in Bristol on Sunday 28th April.

The now famous Cider Express will be departing Mumbles RFC at 8.30am

This will allow us some time to get some food and relax around Gordano before Kick Off at 1.00pm.

We aim to return after a few drinks in the Gordano RFC bar, approx 7.30pm

There is a charge of £10pp for the return journey, which is payable on the bus before we leave.

IMPORTANT: Could you please reply to the Teamer text with 'M' to say you will be meeting to get the bus from Mumbles on Sunday morning.

It would be great if as many boys as possibly could get the bus up, but if you are planning on driving to Gordano please text 'Y' to the Teamer text

If you cannot make it, please decline with 'N' as usual.

There are 49 seats on the bus, 24 players in the squad. So there is room for every player plus one adult, however, some players may not make it, and some may travel alone. If you require more than one extra seat for brothers/sisters/parents/ please let me know by text or email mumblescrusaders@gmail.com and we will do our best to get everyone on board.

Gordano 28th April

The Crusaders will end their u13 campaign this coming Sunday on a whistle stop tour to Gordano in Bristol.

LATCH Dinner - 26th April

The Crusaders have booked a table of 10 at the Latch dinner on 26th April, to help the u14s raise money for LATCH.

Dylan Gunner, a 14 year old boy from Mumbles u14s team, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and is now going through 12 months of treatment. The LATCH Organisation has been magnificent with their support to both Dylan and his family and will continue with this support throughout his treatment. Dylan is a local West Cross / Mumbles boy and has been playing rugby for Mumbles RFC from the age of 6.

The evening is a MALE ONLY Lounge suit affair with a three course meal. Dai Vaughan (Chairman of Dunvant RFC and an excellent speaker) is doing the after dinner speech, there will be a raffle and an auction, including a signed Swans shirt (Michu’s) and more.

 

The tickets for our table are £25 each and it would be great to see some of the Crusaders Dads there to help support this worthy cause, and enjoy a night out.

We need to pay the money by 12th April, so if you could email through your intention to attend to mumblescrusaders@gmail.com we will allocate you a space.

Thank you to all the coaches and parents for looking after brad on Sunday; from Russ and Annabelle

NO TRAINING THIS WEEK

There will be no training this week due to so many boys being involved in school games and the weather not looking like its going to warm up at all.

There is also no game over the Easter weekend so you are all free to enjoy your egg hunts on Sunday

Best Wishes to Brad and Harry E

The weather took its toll on the Crusaders team at Dunvant on Sunday. Harry E had to come off after a bump to the head that left him wondering where he was and what was happening even more than the parents! Brad also took a dive into the Dunvant paddling pool in the centre of the pitch and struggled to get his temperature back up, despite the efforts of all the fantastic Crusaders nurses and all the help from Dunvant RFC who couldnt have been more helpful!

It's great to report that Harry is fine and sporting a new egg on his head while Brad went to hospital for an x-ray on his chest which showed no lingering Dunvant mud. He is well on the mend.

Needless to say everyone involved with the Crusaders, coaches and parents, wish both boys a speedy recovery.

Gordano and Morriston

A great effort from the boys that were left on the weekend after illness once again swept through the camp! Thanks to Gardano for such a fanstastic game and for the Mumbles boys that went back to the club afterwards to enjoy the pasta and coke!

Sunday sees us hosting the Gordano RFC u13s touring side on the main pitch in Underhill Park.
Both ourselves and Gordano will also be playing Morriston, so there should be plenty of rugby for the boys.
It is also important that we welcome our guests that have traveled from Gordano back to the club after the games on Sunday. It is the least we would expect if we were touring somewhere. Let's hope the weather holds up from some good rugby

Well done to all the boys who played against Porthcawl on the weekend.
All the coaches at The Crusaders were extremely proud of the way the game was taken to a very good Porthcawl side in what was a hard fought and evenly matched game.
The coaches from Porthcawl were very complimentary about the Mumbles players after the game, both for their rugby and for spirit in which the game was played.
Needless to say we look forward to playing Porthcawl again in the future on a regular basis.

Neath Game Sunday 10.30am Meet- 11.00am KO

The third test against Neath takes place this Sunday in Underhill
With Pontardawe unable to make it for the scheduled fixture, Neath have kindly agreed to travel to Mumbles to play the Crusaders

The game will KICK OFF at 11.00am
So, can we all try and meet by 10.30am on the top pitch in the park.

Bryncoch game has been called off this morning due to a waterlogged pitch

France v Wales Saturday night with a 5pm KO there will be a few people in the Rock and Fountain in Newton watching the game there. All welcome to come along and have some snails, garlic and red wine. Failing that, a few pints.

Gowerton game OFF

With the Mumbles Underhill pitches unplayable (and a cup game possibly going ahead on the morning) there are no other pitches available on Sunday. We have spoken to Gowerton who have no pitches available either. Both teams are keen to play again this season and we have tentatively agreed to play on a Friday night when the light improves. Thanks for those who managed to make training on Friday night. A good session, but we understand that the Friday slot is not great for everyone. Once the weather and light improves, we will try to get back on track with training on a Wednesday evening. Thank you for your patience at the moment. The coaching team

No training Friday

After all the snow this week and some problems getting enough coaches to Ashleigh road this week we have cancelled training on the AstroTurf.

We are due to play Bonymaen away Sunday, and are hoping to take as many players as possible. Please keep an eye on teamer and the blog for info about the meet and kick off times for the game on the weekend.

CHARITY DINNER

It would be great if we could fill a table to raise money for such a worthwhile cause, as well as show our support for one of the players in the Mumbles Junior section.

As you may be aware, we at Mumbles RFC U14s are raising money for LATCH, The Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity.
Dylan Gunner, a 14 year old boy from our team, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and is now going through 12 months of treatment. The LATCH Organisation has been magnificent with their support to both Dylan and his family and will continue with this support throughout his treatment.

Dylan is a local West Cross / Mumbles boy and has been playing rugby for Mumbles RFC from the age of 6. We started our activities with a sponsored walk before Christmas and we raised well over £4,000, which was fantastic!! We are now organising a dinner at Langland Golf Club on Friday 26th April. As a club we have a youth dinner and a senior dinner, but to my knowledge, we have never had one in the Junior section (crazy, when you think how important it is to the future of the club) I know I have spoken to most of you about this and everyone has said they would take a table, well now it is time for you to put your money where your mouth is!

We are limited to 9 tables of 10 so it will be on a first come first served basis. The seniors, youth, old fogies from the club (my dad and his mates), South Gower and Dunvant have all asked for tables, and whilst of course I would be willing to sell to them to make the money, I would personally prefer to fill the room with our Junior section. The tickets are priced at £250 for a table, if you can’t take a full table then we will try and fit all numbers in, just let me know how many tickets you want (£25 each).

Full details for the evening will follow, but It will be a Lounge suit affair with a three course meal. We have secured Dai Vaughan (Chairman of Dunvant RFC and an excellent speaker) to do the after dinner speech, there will be a raffle (with good prizes), an auction, including a signed Swans shirt (Michu’s) and more.

I need to know how many tickets you require by the 8th Feb and then money, by 1st March. As you can imagine this takes a lot of organising on top of running and coaching the U14s team so please help me here by replying promptly. It would be great if I didn’t have to sell tables to other people and we sold out just with the Junior section!!!!!

Weekend off

With the weather not looking like its going to get above freezing on Sunday an early decision has been made to cancel the fixture away to Felinfoel.
So a weekend off for everyone!
