Tour Bookings

Great response so far, and it looks like we will have a high turn out for the tour.

We just need everyone to finalise their bookings in the next few days. All details for booking are in the post below. Our group booking will only be kept for us until this Friday so please try and get sorted asap. We also need final numbers so we can organise the right number of fixtures for the Friday and Saturday.

Any questions with regard to doubling up / sharing / anything else we'll do out best to make sure everyone is sorted out. Contact Mike G on m.b.gravenor@swan.ac.uk 07846 334 962.

Training this Friday back to normal 4:00 Underhill Park.

TOUR FINAL DETAILS - PLEASE BOOK NOW!

It is decided! The Mumbles Crusaders under 11s end of season tour will take us to Trecco Bay on 6-8th May. The basic plan will be to travel on the Friday with one stop over match. Rugby on the Saturday and (with some lessons learned from last year!) a chill out at the park on the Sunday. Full details will follow, but in the meantime can you please all get organised and make your booking. Here is how...

1. Ring Trecco Bay on 0844 381 9165. This is the Group Booking Team number, and it took me a while to get through to them. They are open Mon-Thurs 09:00 - 17:00, closed Fri, and Sat-Sun 09:00-17:00. I spoke to Gemma who is working this week. An alternative is to call the main line, 0844 335 3450, and ask for the Group Booking Team to ring you back when they are free.

2. Quote the Group Booking reference: U9576816 (Gaynor Morgan has been the contact)

3. Ask for the availability of either 2 or 3 bedroom caravans. Note that we made a reservation of as many units as we could but they are not all the same (we have reserved at least 20). So it is first come first served. The prices range from £166 (2 bedroom) to 185 (3 bedroom). There are also some more expensive options that are not part of our reservation.

4. Pay the full cost of the holiday. Note that this includes all passes for the facilities and linen etc.

Note for those wanting to share a caravan: We have organised this with families in mind, so if you want a caravan to yourselves that is great. If you are a pair and would like to save on the cost and double up with another pair then that is fine too. Please try and organise this amongst yourselves, or you can let us know and we can match everyone up.

LETS'S ALL GET BEHIND THIS AND GIVE THE LADS ANOTHER WEEKEND TO REMEMBER!

Any questions to Mike G on m.b.gravenor@swan.ac.uk
or at Training on Wednesday morning

Sunday Plans and Tour

Friday Training ----- Is ON at 4:15 Underhill Park. We know that lots of boys will be away but Lyndon will still be taking training for those available.

A match for whole squad against Swansea Uplands this Sunday. The Ups can always be relied upon to bring loads of players, so plenty of rugby all round. We hope to arrange 2 games, or a long one. Please meet at Bishopston at 10:00. The u12s have the field after us so a prompt start is needed. 10:30 KO.

TOUR UPDATE: We have had a positive response to the Trecco Tour suggestion, so it very much looks like we will have our end of season event at Porthcawl on the weekend of 6-8th May. We will finalise this on Sunday - so if you have any questions or want to let us know your opinions please respond to the Poll (on the right) or let us know at the match at the latest. Full details are on the post below.... just some clarifications: the caravans are 2 or 3 bedroom (not 2 or 3 bed) and should sleep 4-6 or 6-8.

End of Season Tour - Please Respond

We have had a long think about the end of season tour. We'd really like to repeat the success of last season, but cannot get a deal at Bluestone anything like last year (more than twice the price and for the cheaper lodges). We've looked at Morfa Bay adventure but the price per person is similar, and we would like to keep the offer open to families as well as the price down. We now have a new option, to go to Trecco Bay holiday park at Porthcawl.

On Fri - Sun 6-8th May, we can book 2 or 3 bedroom caravans for £166 to £190 (including a group discount of 10). So there is an option for families to book, or for lads+1 to double up in a caravan. According to the website, each bedroom sleeps 2 (1 twin 1 double) and there is further sleeping room in the lounge area. So the caravans sleep 4-6 (2 bedroom) or 6-8 (3 bedroom). The price gives access to all the park facilities such as the leisure centre pool. It is right on the beach as well. Details can be found HERE. Some pictures HERE. Plenty of rugby clubs in the area to arrange matches with.

This looks like our best option for a weekend trip. There only alternative we can suggest is a day trip to a fairly local activity such as climbing/paintball + a game.

Can you please let us know your views on this? Especially if you have been to Trecco yourself, or know someone who has. With all the cancellations it's been difficult getting the parents together to circulate the ideas. We need to know THIS WEEK PLEASE. We will have to try and secure a block booking and then get the full money to them very quickly.

You can respond on the Poll on the right. This Poll is anonymous so please let us know what you think. Please try and do this if you can - it would be nice to generate some more comments and feedback on the blog. Or by e-mail / text to Mike G: m.b.gravenor@swan.ac.uk / 07846 334962

All games at Bishopston OFF

Well, the Crusaders answered the call, along with a couple of eager Pirates. But unfortunately the weather has beaten us again and the match is off. Thanks everyone for making the effort to get the team together. See you on training on Friday.

Calling the Crusaders

Next Sunday we have a nice match, hosting Gowerton at Bishopston. We have a couple of problems though - player availability and congestion at Bishopston. We would really appreciate help from the squad in fulfilling this fixture.

Due to a school trip we'll be without a substantial portion of the squad, and because there are a large number of teams playing next Sunday we are going for an early start.

When the teamer invites go out this week, can you please let us know your availability straight away, and also please make every effort to attend this week so we can field a team. If there are any problems with lifts please let Mike or Dan know and we will help arrange. We will be kicking off promptly at 10:30, so meet at Bishopston at 10:00.

Kit bag picked up on Friday

Mike G has a Canterbury Blue Boot Bag. Picked up on the park this Friday. Contains a gumshield, trainers (orange soles), ball pump and drink. Text Mike on 07846 334962.

Early start on Sunday

We will be kicking off at 10am on Sunday because there is a little matter of Swansea v Cardiff in the afternoon!

Please be at the game promptly for 9.30am. This helps enormously with organisation of the teams and subsitutes for the game.

The clubhouse at Morriston (SA6 6JS) is just off Chemical Road, on Heol Gwernen. The playing fields are on the right just before clubhouse. Map here:
