New Season Details

Here is all the info for the upcoming start of the season.

Friday 27th August. Training at Underhill 5:00.

Saturday 28th August. Family fun day at Underhill Park. This Saturday, the club has organised an event for the junior section on the eve of the Cracker 7s tournament. Unfortunately we could not organise a match for the Crusaders, but everyone is welcome to come along for the fun of it. There will be BBQ, games, and you can support some of the other age-groups who will be playing matches. The event will take place from 2-5 in the afternoon. Just to be clear, there is no formal event for the Crusaders, but everyone is welcome to go along, kick a ball around and enjoy.

Members of the first XV will run the BBQ and offer coaching clinics, kicking competition, tug of war. The Vikings will be playing Gowerton in a tag match at about 3:00. And there will be star guests from the Ospreys!

Friday 3rd September: Training at Underhill 5:00.

Sunday 5th September: Match vs Loughor. At home, Bishopston sports field. Meet at 10:00 on the dot for a little practice before the match.

Remember the new rules:

• Tackling at or below the waist
• 5 man scrums (scrum half must make a pass)
• Uncontested Lineout (no catch and drive)
• Only 1 player from either side can contest for the ball in addition to the tackler and tackled player.

New Kit

We are ordering new shorts and socks for next season. Please can you let us know your son's waist size asap. Send the information to Mike by txt 07846 334962 or e-mail m.b.gravenor@swan.ac.uk.

Please can you also let us know if your son has grown out of his jersey. As this is our main expense please only order a new one if really necessary.

We will be able to replace jerseys and order the correct shorts as long as you let us know by July 17th and if you can return your old jersey to be recycled.

All costs will be covered by our subscriptions

Bluestone Tour

Thanks to everyone for making the tour such a great success. A few survivors remain and the weekend has ended in a decisive victory for The Crusaders in the Bluestone Pub Quiz.

BLUESTONE - more details for Sat Night

Some more details for Bluestone. Note there is NO TRAINING THIS WEEK.

BBQ
We're hoping to have a BBQ on Saturday night at Bluestone. There's no dedicated BBQ area, but we plan to congregate around a few lodges that are close together. Please bring a disposable charcoal BBQ and any food that you would like to BBQ for your own family. If you want to cook in groups it might be fun! If anyone would like to bring a "bring and share" salad of their choice e.g. pasta salad, rice salad, tabouleh (Mike M has offered to do this - it's his favourite!) we could all dip in. (No peppers or tuna for Dan thank you).

Bring some "refreshments" of your choice for you and your children as well. Rav will bring some paper plates, forks and some serviettes so you don't need to worry about these. If it's wet we may have to change tack, but lets be optimistic!

Tour T-shirts
We've had some tour t-shirts made for the boys with their individual names on the back, and a season souvenir. After paying for the Kooga training tops, our funds are low and we hope parents won't mind paying a contribution towards these. We will hand out the T-shirts on the Friday after the match and try and collect £8 from everyone then. It would be great if all the boys could wear them on Saturday at Heatherton - it will help to round them up!

Wednesday 28th April

NO TRAINING this week.

Bluestone Tour

One more event left for the season. The boys' first big Tour. Here is the plan...

Friday 7th May
Meet at 5pm at Cefneithen Rugby Club (Cross Hands). Play two matches, against Cefneithen and Pontyberem kicking off at 5:30. Leave Cefneithen at 7.00 to arrive at Bluestone for 8pm. The reason for the early start is so we can get to Bluestone in a decent time, early enough for the boys to get in a swim if they want. Obviously some of us might not easily be able to get there for 5. If this is the case, let us know and we will try and arrange lifts so the players can all be there for the start of the tour.

Saturday 8th May
Leave for Heatherton at 11.30
Heatherton activities 12-3. Paintballing at Heatherton 3-5
Evening at Bluestone (Possible BBQ!!)

Sunday 9th May
Morning: play Narbeth and Whitland at Narbeth RFC.

London Welsh

A great day on Saturday, with fantastic visitors from London Welsh. LW were very grateful for the hospitality and very complimentary on the boys rugby. Sunday was a game too far, and we have taken note of that. Well done to all the boys, they took some nasty knocks, and as the day got colder and colder it was surprising that any Crusaders were left standing at the end, let alone in the good spirits that they showed. A well earned rest this Wednesday and next weekend. Details for Lucton to follow.
